Installation & Warranty

How do solar panels work?

Solar panels convert sunlight into electricity using photovoltaic cells. This electricity can be used to power your home or business, reducing your reliance on the grid.

Are solar panels effective in rainy or cloudy climates like Vancouver?

Yes, solar panels can still generate electricity on cloudy or rainy days. Modern solar panels are designed to capture a broad spectrum of light, meaning they can generate power even in less-than-ideal weather conditions. Additionally, Vancouver’s long daylight hours in the summer help to offset the less sunny days. Over a year, the total energy production remains substantial. Solar panels also work more efficiently in cooler temperatures, which can be beneficial in a climate like Vancouver’s.

What types of solar panels do you use?

We use high-efficiency monocrystalline and polycrystalline panels from reputable manufacturers to ensure optimal performance and durability. All our equipment and materials are approved by UL and CSA, and comply with the Canadian Electrical Code, Building Code, and NABCEP standards.

How long does the installation take?

Once permits are secured, the physical installation of the solar array and battery storage typically takes 7 to 12 days.

What is the warranty on the system?

We provide a comprehensive warranty package, typically including a 25-year performance warranty on the solar panels and a 10-year warranty on the battery storage and inverter components.

How do I get started?

Simply contact us to schedule a free site assessment.

We will confirm your exact energy usage and, as an approved HBCN member, finalize the BC Hydro rebate application to lock in your $10,000savings and secure your installation date.

F.A.Qs

Installation Process

What is the process for getting solar panels installed?

The process typically involves an initial consultation, site assessment, design and proposal, permitting, installation, and final inspection. We handle everything from start to finish to ensure a smooth experience.

How long does the installation process take?

The timeline can vary depending on the project’s complexity and permitting process, but most installations are completed within 3-5 months from the initial consultation.

Do I need to be home during the installation?

It’s not necessary for you to be home during the entire installation, but we may need access to certain areas of your property. We’ll coordinate with you to ensure minimal disruption.

Financial & Investment Questions (Focus on Exclusivity)

What financing options are available?

We offer various financing options including government loans, rebates, and in-house financing plans to make solar installations more affordable. (for more information please click HERE)

Can I take advantage of any government incentives or rebates?

Yes, there are several government incentives and rebate programs available for solar installations. We will help you navigate these options to maximize your savings. (for more information please click HERE)

Who is eligible for $10,000 combined rebate?

The $10,000 combined rebate for solar and battery storage is a BC Hydro incentive, but it is exclusively available to customers who work with a contractor that is an approved member of the Home Building and Construction Network (HBCN).

We are a certified HBCN member, meaning we are one of the few contractors authorized to process and secure this $10,000 funding for you.

Choosing a non-certified installer means you will not be able to access this rebate.

How quickly will the system pay for itself (What is the Payback Period)?

Because we secure the $10,000 BC Hydro rebate via our HBCN approval, and based on your current consumption and the guaranteed 3.75% annual BC Hydro rate increases, the Payback Period can approximately get up to 12 years.

Why should I finance?

The financing provides immediate access to a high-return asset made possible by the $10,000rebate. By paying a monthly finance rate for only 36 months, you eliminate a permanent, rising utility bill and achieve an effective annual return (IRR) of up to13% over the system's life.

F.A.Qs

Performance & BC Hydro Specifics

I'm currently on the BC Hydro flat rate. How does this system protect me from the new Time-of-Day (ToD) pricing?

The introduction of the new Time-of-Day (ToD) pricing, which penalizes usage during peak hours, e.g. (4 p.m. to 9 p.m.), signals a clear, long-term shift toward making evening power more expensive for everyone.

Your battery system is your best defence:

* Future-Proofing: It ensures your system's value is maximized even if you switch to ToD or if the flat rate structure changes.

* Peak-Shaving: It prevents you from paying the high rates during evening peak demand hours, whether through the Tier 2 block rate or the new ToD surcharge.

Will the 6-kW system cover 100% of my energy needs?

The 6 kW array is perfectly sized to generate approximately. 6,000 to 6,600 kWh annually, offsetting about 70-85% of your home's total annual consumption, approximately. 14,400 kWh. Through the BC Hydro Net Metering program, the excess energy generated in the summer provides credits to offset your winter consumption, ensuring your net annual energy bill is reduced to near-zero (only the mandatory fixed Basic Charge remains).

Why is the battery system necessary in BC?

The battery is your financial shield against the most expensive electricity.

It secures your savings against all rate volatility and provides critical power during outages.

Maintenance and Support

How do I maintain my solar panels?

Solar panels require minimal maintenance. We recommend periodic cleaning to remove debris and an annual inspection to ensure optimal performance. We can provide these services for our clients.

What happens if my solar panels need repairs?

We offer maintenance and repair services for all our installations. If you experience any issues, contact our support team, and we’ll promptly address them.

Is there a warranty on the solar panels and installation?

Yes, our solar panels come with a manufacturer’s warranty, and we provide a workmanship warranty for the installation. Details of the warranties will be included in your contract.

F.A.Qs

Technical System Architecture

Why do you use String Inverters (DC-Coupled) instead of Microinverters?

This is a crucial distinction that impacts long-term efficiency and cost:

Feature

String Inverters (Recommended/DC Coupled)

Microinverters (AC Coupled/Competitors)

Battery Compatibility

Ideal (DC-Coupled): Works directly with the battery, avoiding unnecessary conversion losses (higher efficiency).

Inefficient: Power must be converted from DC → AC → DC to charge the battery, wasting valuable energy.

System Efficiency

Highest: Fewer conversions, less energy loss, and the best performance when paired with battery storage.

Lower: Multiple conversions lead to wasted solar energy, reducing your long-term ROI.

The Bottom Line: Our String Inverter solution is superior because it uses the most efficient path (DC) to capture, store, and deliver your solar power, maximizing your financial return. Competitors offering microinverter-only systems are selling you an inefficient, outdated architecture that is expensive to retrofit with a battery later.

My friend got an AC-Coupled battery system. What is the difference?

An AC-Coupled system uses a less efficient conversion process.

DC-Coupling uses the String Inverter topology to direct the power straight from the solar panels (DC) to the battery (DC), minimizing conversion losses. This superior efficiency is why we use it to maximize up to 13% IRR on your investment.

Can I add another battery later to my DC-Coupled system if my needs change?

Yes, future expansion is possible, as the modern DC-Coupled hybrid inverters we use are often designed with extra capacity to integrate additional batteries later, ensuring your system can grow with your needs.
